Canned motor pumps for new pipeline for pumping liquid gas

As part of a capacity expansion, a new pipeline is being constructed between the location of a petroleum-processing company in Gelsenkirchen and Marl Chemical Park for the purpose of transporting C4 isobutane mixtures. These C4 combinations are used to process crude oil at the Scholven Refinery and are used at Marl Chemical Park for such things as plastics production. The new pipeline has a total length of 10 km.

Using immersion pumps of the company HERMETIC-Pumpen GmbH, the substance mixture is pumped at –10 °C from the fuel depot directly to the end consumer via the pipeline. From the customer’s perspective, the reliability and availability of the pumps is a clear priority – the companies’ security of supply must be ensured! The special design of canned motor pumps without failure-prone shaft seals, couplings and antifriction or guide bearings ensures that the standards demanded by the operators are fulfilled.

Single and multi-stage immersion pumps with a canned motor are available in the HERMETIC product range. The use ranges extend to a flow rate of 1600 m³/h and a differential head of 1200 m. The temperature range of the material to be pumped extends from –160 °C to +250 °C.

The canned motor and the pump hydraulics form a compact unit with a short shaft that is completely immersed in the tank. The immersion depth and the associated length of the overall structure can thus be executed flexibly and in a customer-specific manner. Whether 2 metres or 8 metres – HERMETIC offers the right solution. Depending on the customer’s requirements, the immersion pumps can be delivered with the corresponding pot carriers. The preferred areas of use are fuel depots, terminals, chemical and offshore plants, gas storage caverns as well as industrial facilities. Liquefied gases, such as LNG, NH3, CO2 as well as high-boiling hydrocarbons or cryogen gases, are typically pumped material.
